Dell Children’s Cardiac Critical Care Unit Doubles in Size
In February 2024, Dell Children’s celebrated the expansion of its cardiac critical care unit. The Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease is the only highly specialized pediatric heart center in Central Texas.
Since the Center opened five years ago, it has experienced tremendous growth in patient volumes and in international prominence – taking on some of the most complex cases with extremely positive outcomes.
The expansion has increased the unit from 24 to 48 beds, six of which are dedicated to heart transplants.
“We are very excited about adding more critical care bed capacity in our outstanding critical care unit,” said Dr. Charles D. Fraser, Jr., Executive Director of the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease. “The scope, focus and expertise offered in this unit are inspiring in our mission to help the most complex patients.”
