Unpaid Internship Program
Are you passionate about helping others and interested in how philanthropy supports world-class healthcare? The Dell Children’s Foundation Internship Program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience while making a real impact in your community.
Designed for students entering college, current college students, or recent graduates, this unpaid internship provides a meaningful way to learn about nonprofit fundraising and operations in a leading pediatric healthcare environment.
What You’ll Do
As an intern, you’ll take part in a blend of project work, event support, and shadowing opportunities. Each internship includes 3–6 short-term or ongoing projects that give you practical experience and insight into the daily work of healthcare philanthropy.
You’ll also have opportunities to:
- Attend team and departmental meetings
- Shadow Foundation staff in various roles
- Gain exposure to strategic fundraising and community engagement initiatives
Depending on your school’s policies, your internship may qualify for academic credit or community service hours.
Areas of Focus
Internships are offered up to three times a year based on organizational needs (Spring, Summer, and Fall). Each session offers 1–2 placements where interns can gain experience in areas such as:
- Donor Stewardship
- Gift Solicitation (Individual, Corporate, Foundation, Planned Giving)
- Communications & Marketing
- Event Planning & Support
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking motivated individuals who want to learn, grow, and contribute to our mission.
Minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Interest in healthcare, philanthropy, marketing, or communications
Preferred qualities:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Dependability, professionalism, and teamwork
- Prior experience working in an office setting
- Experience with Microsoft Suite, Google Office Tools, Canva
Internship Requirements
All interns are onboarded through Dell Children’s Volunteer Services. This process includes:
- A comprehensive criminal background check
- A visit to Occupational Health Services for immunization testing and vaccinations
- Proof of flu vaccination (required for all internship sessions)
Interns are expected to maintain professionalism and reliability throughout the program. No more than one unexcused absence is permitted.
How to Apply
Ready to make a difference?
Selected candidates will be invited to interview—either in person, by phone, or via video conference. Final candidates will complete the volunteer onboarding process, Dell Children’s health history form and provide proof of required vaccinations before starting.

Internships will be offered on site at Dell Children’s Medical Center throughout the year at the following approximate intervals:
