Ascension Texas is excited to announce the appointment of Michael Wiggins DBA, FACHE, as the new President of Dell Children’s, which now includes Dell Children’s Medical Center as well as Dell Children’s Medical Center North.

Michael joins Dell Children’s from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, where he served as President and CEO. At Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, Michael was responsible for the strategic direction, external relations, philanthropy development and operating performance of the hospital, University Le Bonheur Pediatric Specialists, Le Bonheur Foundation, and the Children’s Foundation Research Institute. He worked closely with various constituents including board members, academic partners, government officials, and philanthropists.

He joins us at an exciting time, as we are expanding services and opening the Dell Children’s Medical Center North, bringing more options for care close to home.”

Prior to his role at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, Michael served as a Senior Vice President at Children’s Health System of Texas in Dallas, Vice President of Operations at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham, and multiple other leadership positions in children’s healthcare.

Michael is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and serves on multiple boards, including Children’s Hospital Association Quality and Safety Governance Committee, Children’s Hospital Alliance of Tennessee, and the Urban Child Institute. He also serves on several advisory councils including U.S. News & World Report Healthcare of Tomorrow and The University of Memphis Fogelman College of Business.

Michael earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Quantitative Methods and Master of Business Administration at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, and his Doctorate of Business Administration at Liberty University.
