THERE IS NO BETTER TIME THAN NOW
Each year, thousands of families in Central Texas receive the news no parent wants to hear—your child has a serious, life-threatening disease. For these families, the words that often follow are difficult: Your child’s best chance of survival lies elsewhere.
At Dell Children’s, we’re committed to ensuring that the children in our community and their families do not have to hear these words or leave home for lifesaving care. With community support, Dell Children’s is making investments in people, facilities, and technology as we take a giant leap toward becoming one of the top-tier pediatric institutions in the country.
The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation is providing a $30 million matching grant for the advancement of pediatric care in Central Texas. Because of this generosity, the impact of your investment will go further, ensuring quality specialty care for children right here, at home.

WHERE WE’VE GROWN
The Specialty Pavilion
Housed on our Mueller campus, the 160,000-square-foot Specialty Pavilion is connected directly to the main hospital and houses the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease, the UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences Program, the Children’s Blood and Cancer Center, and the Comprehensive Fetal Care Center.
Dell Children’s North
Located at Avery Ranch Boulevard and 183A in Williamson County, our new hospital opened April 2023. The new hospital increases access to pediatric emergency and trauma services, operating and procedure rooms and outpatient services.
Dell Children’s 4th Bed Tower
Opened in November 2022, the 4th Bed Tower not only enables care for an additional 1,500 patients each year, but also houses a state-of-the-art inpatient cancer unit that is equipped to care for Stem Cell Transplant patients.
The Special Delivery Unit
Opened in June 2021, the Special Delivery Unit (SDU) is dedicated to caring for healthy expectant mothers carrying high risk pregnancies. The SDU allows mom and baby to have access to the highest level of fetal care in one place and is one of less than ten in the country.
iMRI
Dell Children’s is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade to our hospital’s Intraoperative MRI and surgical suite. The project will include an upgraded 3T magnet, a new, state-of-the-art iMRI and a brand-new surgical suite built for the most complex neurosurgical procedures. The suite will be built to also function as an additional imaging suite, which will allow us to meet the increasing demand for advanced imaging among our growing patient population. The project is slated to be completed by January 2024.
Transplant
Until December 2020, no child in Austin had ever received an organ transplant locally. The first pediatric heart transplant was completed at Dell Children’s in December 2020 and dozens more have been performed since. Looking ahead, Dell Children’s will launch the region’s first stem cell transplant program in the coming years as well as work to build out additional organ transplantation programs to serve our community’s children, here, close to home.
US News and World Report Ranking
Perhaps one of the biggest markers of our growth is the new US News and World Report ranking, which has placed our Neurosciences, Heart and Neonatal programs among the nation’s best.
